Creating a time tracker in Google Sheets is a simple yet powerful way to monitor your productivity and manage your tasks. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to build a customizable time-tracking system that fits your specific needs.
The first thing you’ll need to do is create a blank Google Sheet. You may copy this template spreadsheet and use it instead of creating everything from scratch.
Click "Extensions" and choose "App script". You will be redirected to the App script page. Please, copy the code from the Google Doc below and paste it to the page. Save the script by clicking the floppy disk icon and return to the spreadsheet.
The next step is to add buttons. Click "Insert", "Image", and "Insert an image over the cells". Of course, you may insert any images for this. If you want to use the images from this tutorial, please, find them in this document.
Now we link the buttons to each of the functions by clicking the three dots, clicking Assign a script, and adding the functions name. You need to add buttons for Start, End, and New Row. Next, all you need to do is create a tab for each month, add the dates on the first columns.
Alternatively, try Kanbanchi, a task and project management app with a built-in time tracker.
